Why You Haven’t Been Losing Weight and How to Get Back on Track

When we get motivated to lose weight, it can be frustrating to stand on the scale only to find our hard work has not paid off.  But don’t give up.  Before you get discouraged, you need to be aware of a few things that are indispensable when it comes to losing weight.

Lack of weight lose can be as simple as the fact that you are consuming more calories than you are using.  It may seem obvious, but studies have shown that when we don’t have a system for counting calories, we can underestimate how many we are consuming, sometimes by two or three times.

Another problem may be relying on aerobic exercise as the only means of losing weight.  A study by the American Journal of Medicine found that aerobic exercise is not a very effective way to lose weight when not partnered with a good diet.

With that information in mind, it’s time to reset your weight loss plan. Your first step is to find a way to count your calorie consumption. There are apps and websites (like caloriecounter.com) that are great resources to do the hard work for you.  By keeping track of what you are eating, you have a starting point for getting the weight off.  The second part of the equation, of course, is to count how many calories you are using in a day.  Again, with apps and websites, along with products such as a ‘Fitbit’ you have an easy way of keeping track of your calorie use.

All that’s left is to make sure that with a healthy diet, your calorie intake is less than the calories you are using in a day. By keeping yourself educated on your calorie in and out, you are sure to lose that troublesome weight.  So don’t give up, use these tips to get yourself back on track.
